Configuration schema diagnostics: Enumerated settings accept arbitrary values · case 01

Enumerated settings accept arbitrary values.

Verified by executionVariant 1 · 9 checks per implementationDownload source bundle ↓JSON ↗

ROOT CAUSE

The implementation substitutes False for choices is not None and value not in choices, so enumerated settings accept arbitrary values.

VERIFIED REPAIR

Validate values against the declared allowed set.

Unsuccessful approach: The attempted repair substitutes choices is not None and value in choices. Fixture 6 still yields [] instead of [('a', 'choice')].

Case contract

Return errors in key order for missing required keys, unknown keys, exact type mismatch, disallowed values, and invalid bounds. Booleans must not satisfy integer type.

Why this case matters

An offline model of configuration schema diagnostics, suitable for testing build and release tooling without external services.

Verification & scope

This reproducer isolates one failure mechanism. Results cover the supplied fixtures. Variants within a family share a test contract and should remain grouped when constructing evaluation splits. Related mechanisms with a shared evaluation_group must also remain together; these controlled models are not independent production incidents.
