FA-20391 / Assistive announcements / Open access
Replacement speech resumes at the prior cursor · case 01
The announcement trace violates the stated speech-cursor contract.
ROOT CAUSE
Fault site: words=list(e[1]); cursor=0; done=False is implemented as words=list(e[1]); cursor=min(cursor,len(words)); done=False
THE FAILURE
Fault site: words=list(e[1]); cursor=0; done=False is implemented as words=list(e[1]); cursor=min(cursor,len(words)); done=False
Unsuccessful approach: The attempted repair substitutes words=list(e[1]); cursor=1 if words else 0; done=False and still violates a regression oracle.
Case contract
Finite word arrays model announcements. Load copies words and resets cursor and completion. Speak advances one word only while unpaused. Seek clamps to [0,length]. Rewind moves one word. Cancel discards current words. Completion is logged exactly once when a speak reaches end, never for an empty load. Speed changes do not move word cursor. Return spoken words, completion count, cursor and paused flag.
Why this case matters
Deterministic controlled model of assistive announcement delivery.

HELD IN THE MEMBER ARCHIVE
The verified repair and its recorded checks are member-only.
This mechanism has 7 recorded checks per implementation. The open-access tier publishes the failure and the unsuccessful fix; the repaired source that passes every check, and the observations that prove it, are available to members.
Every case sharing this mechanism uses the same contract and the same repair, so this one record is held back for all of them.
Member access is invitation-based. Sign in with your invited account to inspect the repair.

Stipulated bounded policy, not a browser, speech engine, platform API, or standards conformance claim. This reproducer isolates one failure mechanism. Results cover the supplied fixtures. Variants within a family share a test contract and should remain grouped when constructing evaluation splits. Related mechanisms with a shared evaluation_group must also remain together; these controlled models are not independent production incidents.
