NaN quietness is inferred from payload parity · case 05
NaN quietness is inferred from payload parity.
Case contract
Decode an unsigned 64-bit IEEE binary64 encoding into sign, kind, unbiased exponent, integer significand, quiet flag and payload. Nonfinite fields use null; zero and subnormal exponents are -1022.
Why this case matters
An offline floating representation model isolates a reproducible arithmetic fault.
One recorded failure
Sample boundary fixtureThis sample comes from the broken implementation of a controlled reproducer.
| Boundary fixture | Actual | Expected | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| signaling payload | [1, "nan", null, null, true, 5] | [1, "nan", null, null, false, 5] | Failed |
